Chiefs Announce 2012-13 Schedule
June 27, 2012 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Spokane Chiefs
The Spokane Chiefs have released their 2012-13 schedule that features 26 home weekend dates, including 15 that will be played on Saturday nights. The season will begin when the Chiefs visit the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, September 22nd.Spokane will open the home portion of the regular season on Saturday, September 29th when the Americans visit the Arena. It will mark the 21st time in the last 23 years that the Chiefs have played the Americans in the home opener. Spokane and Tri-City will play each other 12 times, six in each other's building.
Tickets for individual games will go on sale to the public on Thursday, September 6th at 9:00 am. Ticket packages for the 2012-13 season are on sale now at the Chiefs office by contacting an Account Executive at (509) 535-PUCK.
Included in the 26 weekend dates will be 10 Friday nights and one Sunday. The Chiefs will play four Tuesday nights and six Wednesday nights. Tuesday through Saturday night home games will begin at 7:05. Sunday, February 10th versus Victoria will begin at 6:05.
The regular season will end on Sunday, March 17th when the Chiefs visit the Portland Winterhawks.
The Chiefs play in the WHL's U.S. Division of the Western Conference and will play the Everett Silvertips (four home, four away) eight times, the Portland Winterhawks (four home, five away) and Seattle Thunderbirds (five home, four away) nine times a piece.
In the BC Division, the Chiefs will play Victoria, Kamloops, Kelowna and Prince George four times (two home, two away) and the Vancouver Giants twice (one home, one away).
Spokane also maintains its rivalry with the Kootenay Ice facing off against the Central Division franchise five times, including three home games. The Chiefs will host the other five Central Division clubs (Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Red Deer) throughout the year.
Spokane will travel to play the Eastern Conference clubs (Brandon, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon and Swift Current) in a nine night, six game trip that will begin on November, 30th.
The Chiefs will release their promotional schedule in September.
