Cullen Eddy Named IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year

The Adirondack Phantoms are proud to announce that Cullen Eddy has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Glens Falls community during the 2011-12 season.

In his second season with the Phantoms, The Hidden Valley, PA native went above and beyond in serving the Greater Glens Falls area. He has embraced new opportunities to get involved in the community.

Cullen's Appearances have included multiple visits to the Glens Falls Hospital Pediatric Unit where he was happy to brighten the day of those that were down. Cullen connected with the area's youth and was terrific in leading full-school assemblies at Abraham Wing Elementary and Granville Elementary in which he talked about the importance of hard work and staying in school. Cullen has read to classes at Corinth Middle School and has been a guest on the Phantoms Weekly Radio Show. He also helped the Phantoms raise money for The C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital as part of the Phantoms' Pink in the Rink promotion.

Cullen said he was truly honored to receive the award. Congratulations Cullen!

He joins 2010-11 award winner J.P. Testwuide and 2009-10 winner Logan Stephenson as popular and friendly Phantoms players who have gone above and beyond in serving the community and being an ever-friendly and welcoming presence to fans.

Cullen Eddy is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2011-12 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League in the coming weeks.
