Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-The Milwaukee Admirals gave up the game's final three goals as they saw their 2-1 second period lead turn into a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Peoria Rivermen on Friday night at the Bradley Center. The loss was the fifth straight and the tenth in the past 12 contests for the Ads.
After an hour delay to the start of the game because of travel issues for the referee's, things started off well for the Milwaukee as they took an early 1-0 lead when Kyle Wilson recorded his tenth goal of the season at the 5:03 mark of the first period. Wilson took a long stretch pass from Danny Kroger and skated in two-on-one into the Peoria zone with Ryan Thang. Wilson faked the pass and fired a wrister past Rivermen goalie Ben Bishop.
The Rivermen tied it at one on Jonathon Cheechoo's 14th goal of the season at 8:55 remaining in the opening stanza.
However, just 12 seconds into the second period the Admirals took the lead again as a handcuffed Blake Geoffrion was able to steer the puck by Bishop from just above the goal line. It was the first of the year for the University of Wisconsin alum and Ryan Flynn and Chris Mueller earned assists on the play.
Once again Peoria tied the game again, this time with just 2:53 to play in the second period as Adam Cracknell beat Milwaukee netminder Jeremy Smith and then the Rivermen picked up the game winner 5:10 into the third period on Cheechoo's second of the night.
Derek Nesbitt gave the Rivs an insurance goal just 2:16 later when he found a loose puck in the slot and managed to squeeze it through traffic and past Smith.
Milwaukee begins a three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon at 12:05 pm in Houston. They return home next Friday, February 10 against the Charlotte Checkers at 7:00 pm.
