
Stingrays Receive Turnbull from Utah; Oreskovic Recalled to Hershey

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has acquired forward Joshua "Podge" Turnbull from the Utah Grizzlies and defenseman Phil Oreskovic has been recalled to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. The team also announced that forward Danick Paquette has been reassigned to the Grizzlies by the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League.
Turnbull, 23, appeared in four games with the Grizzlies this season scoring one goal and two assists for three points. Currently in his first professional campaign, the Hayward, Wisconsin, native spent four years at the University of Wisconsin recording 39 points (23g, 16a) in 111 games. A fifth-round draft pick (137th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Turnbull registered a career-high 13 goals and 20 points (13g, 7a) during his senior season (2010-11).
Oreskovic, 24, skated in 34 games with the Stingrays grabbing one assist and 44 penalty minutes. Last season, the North York, Ontario, native dressed in 14 games with the Bears. Selected by the Toronto Maples Leafs in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Oreskovic made his NHL debut with the Leafs during the 2008-09 season netting a goal and an assist in 10 games.
In 31 contests with the Stingrays, Paquette, 21, acquired 17 points (6g, 11a) and 118 penalty minutes.
The Stingrays continue a seven-game road trip Wednesday, January 11 against the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:00 p.m. at Wings Stadium and return to the North Charleston Coliseum Friday, January 20 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. for Dog Days of Winter featuring a Super Weiner Dog Race!
