GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Monday assigned left wing Fabian Brunnstrom to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Brunnstrom, 24, has skated in one contest with the Red Wings this season after earning a contract as a tryout during the team's training camp. The Jonstorp, Sweden, native brings 100 games of NHL experience to Grand Rapids, having registered 40 points (19-21 - 40) in 99 games over two seasons (2008-10) with Dallas. He spent the 2010-11 season in the AHL, recording 35 points (15-20 - 35) in 72 games between Texas and Toronto.

Brunnstrom is expected to be available for the Griffins this Wednesday when they begin a three-game homestand at 7 p.m. versus Lake Erie.

After playing just two home games during October, the Griffins will play eight of their 11 November games at home. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
