Greenville, SC - With all of the success the Drive have had on the field during the 2011 season as they vie for their third straight trip to the South Atlantic League playoffs, it couldn't have been achieved without Brandon Jacobs. On Tuesday, South Atlantic League President Eric Krupa announced that the outfielder was selected to the 2011 Annual All-Star Team.

Jacobs is the second player in Drive franchise history to be named to the league's Annual All-Star Team, joining outfielder and alumni Jeremy Hazelbaker (2010). The 20-year-old Jacobs is the first player in franchise history to be named to both the South Atlantic League's Mid-Season and Annual All-Star Teams. The All-Star Team is voted on by the 14 South Atlantic League team's Field Managers, Coaches, General Managers, Sports Writers, and Broadcasters.

"Brandon has had an outstanding 2011 season," noted Drive Manager Billy McMillon. "He worked very hard at getting better both offensively and defensively. He made major strides in his development and proved to be a leader on the field."

McMillon added, "If he continues to work hard and improve his overall game, I believe he has a chance to play this game at the highest of levels. Speaking on behalf of the Red Sox organization, we are all proud of what he's been able to accomplish this season."

Having a breakout season in his third year in the Red Sox organization, Jacobs enters Tuesday's home finale with the Augusta GreenJackets ranked amongst the circuit's top hitters. A 10th round selection in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, Jacobs leads all Boston farm hands, while ranking 7th in the South Atlantic League with a .307 (132-for-430) batting average.

Appearing in 112 games, Jacobs also finds himself in the top 10 in the South Atlantic League in hits (9th, 132), doubles (T-8th, 32), extra-base hits (9th, 51), total bases (7th, 218), slugging percentage (T-7th, .507), and OPS (9th, .887).

Jacobs has also set career-highs with 16 home runs, 75 RBI, 73 runs scored, and 29 stolen bases.

Drive President and Co-Owner, Craig Brown, stated about the announcement, "The Boston Red Sox continue to show why they are the cream of the crop when it comes to scouting, drafting, and developing young talent that will help them at the Major League level. It has been a joy to witness Brandon's development and to be part of his success during the 2011 season. We congratulate Brandon on this well-deserved honor, and wish him all the very best as he continues his development towards the big leagues."

The Drive wrap-up their home schedule of the 2011 regular season tonight at Fluor Field versus the Augusta GreenJackets. First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM.
