Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, will welcome the seven millionth fan in franchise history to Waterfront Park during the final homestand of the 2010 season, August 30 through September 2. The club stands 6,487 fans shy of seven million with four home games remaining.
Since the organization's inception 16 years ago, and with its August 25th game in the books, the cumulative franchise attendance sits at 6,993,513.
The Thunder's seven millionth fan will receive a prize package that includes: four tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway contributed by WPST, four passes to Six Flags Great Adventure from Snyder's of Hanover, a $100 gift card to Wawa, a $150 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods, a grill and cooler set from Coca-Cola, an Adirondack chair from Budweiser, gift certificates to Peddler's Village and Rat's Restaurant at Grounds For Sculpture and four Trenton Thunder playoff ticket strips (all 6 potential games) as well a Thunder replica jersey. The total value of the prize package is approximately $1,500.
The Trenton organization has had 365,114 patrons visit Waterfront Park this year. The per game attendance average this season is 5,449.
"Seven million in attendance is a huge number that really speaks to the success of this franchise since day one," said Thunder General Manager Will Smith. "We can't thank the fans enough for continuing to come out to the ballpark to enjoy Thunder baseball. We also thank all of our great partners who contributed to the wonderful prize package for our seven millionth fan."
On May 9, 1994 Brian Edmonson delivered the first pitch thrown at Waterfront Park. Two years later the Thunder's one millionth fan passed through the turnstiles. The two millionth fan, Charlie Brown of Trenton, NJ, entered the gates in 1998. The three millionth fan was eight-year old Grace Conway of Yardley, PA during the 2001 season. Kevin Burch of Flemington, NJ was Trenton's four millionth fan during the 2003 season. In September 2005, Eileen Conville of Cinnaminson, NJ graced Waterfront Park to become the five millionth fan. Fan number six-million, Shawn Caple of Franklinville, NJ attended Waterfront Park on June 11, 2008.
The Thunder are on the road visiting Harrisburg over the weekend and will return to Trenton on Monday, August 30. Tickets are available by calling 609-394-3300 or online at trentonthunder.com.
