
Ray Chang Selected to Eastern League All-Star Team

Portland, Maine- Portland Sea Dogs' infielder Ray Chang has been selected to the 2010 Eastern League All-Star Team as the utility player. The Eastern League announced the team Thursday afternoon. The team is selected by Eastern League team managers and coaching staffs, sportswriters, radio and television broadcast personnel and other members of the media.
Ray Chang leads the Sea Dogs and ranks seventh in the Eastern League in average, hitting .300 (129-for-430) with nine home runs and 52 RBI in 113 games. The 26 year-old third baseman, also leads the team in hits (129) and his .385 on base percentage leads the team and ranks third in the league. Chang was selected to participate in the 2010 Eastern League All-Star Game in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Chang started at shortstop for the Eastern Division squad and was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Baseball America recently named Chang the "Best Defensive Third Baseman" in the Eastern League in their annual "Best Tools" survey.
The Leewood, Kansas resident was signed by the Boston Red Sox as a minor league free agent on January 6, 2010. Last season, he posted career highs in batting (.297), runs (44), doubles (23), RBI (47), stolen bases (2), and walks (29) between Single-A Lynchburg and Double-A Altoona in the Pirates system.
Chang is the first Sea Dog to be selected to the All-Star team since 2005 when the Sea Dogs had three representatives; Jon Lester, Dustin Pedroia, and Hanley Ramirez.
The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field for the final homestand of the 2010 season on Monday, August 30th at 7:00 PM against the Binghamton Mets. The Sea Dogs' 2010 campaign concludes on Monday, September 6th at 1:00 PM against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays).
