Cova Named to EL Post-Season All-Star Team

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are pleased to announced that RHP Rafael Cova has been selected the Eastern League Post-Season All-Star Team.

Cova, 28, was voted as the team's relief pitcher by team managers and coaches, sportswriters, radio and television broadcast personnel and other members of the media. Cova currently leads the Eastern League with 21 saves, having successfully converted 21-of-26 save opportunities. The right-hander boasts an ERA of 2.31 and has struck out 59 batters in just 50.2 IP, while limiting the Eastern League to an average of .149.

2B: Ryan Adams, Bowie

3B: Brandon Laird, Trenton

SS: Danny Espinosa, Harrisburg

C: Hector Gimenez, Altoona

OF: Darin Mastroianni, New Hampshire

OF: Ben Revere, New Britain

OF: Eric Thames, New Hampshire

DH: Joel Guzman, Bowie

UTL: Ray Chang, Portland

RH Starting Pitcher: Kyle Drabek, New Hampshire

LH Starting Pitcher: Rudy Owens, Altoona

Relief Pitcher: Rafael Cova, Richmond

The Squirrels will return home on Friday, September 3rd for their final four home dates of the season at The Diamond.
