Trenton Thunder News Release
Harrisburg, PA- The Thunder hitting woes continued on Thursday night, as they were held to just three hits over the last seven innings in a 3-1 loss to the Senators at Metro Bank Park. With the loss, Trenton drops to 77-54 on the season.
The Senators struck first, getting a run off RHP Cory Arbiso (5-3) in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs, Arbiso surrendered a double to left field to Jesus Valdez, who scored when the next hitter, Chris Marrero singled into left field and made it 1-0 Harrisburg. Trenton answered back with their lone run in the top of the second inning, as Matt Cusick doubled down the right field line to plate Marcos Vechionacci and tie the game at one.
Harrisburg tagged Arbiso with the go-ahead run in the fourth inning as Marrero scored on an RBI single from Michael Burgess to go up 2-1. In the sixth, it was Valdez scoring again on a base hit to right field by Edgardo Baez. Arbiso left after allowing three runs on nine hits in six innings of work.
After allowing Trenton to score in the second inning, RHP Ryan Tatusko (2-1) shut down the Thunder bats, allowing just two more hits. LHP Jack Spradlin relieved Tatusko in the seventh and pitched the final three innings allowing just one hit and striking out four, including the final three batters of the game.
In the loss, Justin Snyder was the only hitter to record a multi hit game. Wilkin de la Rosa pitched two perfect innings in relief.
Trenton and Harrisburg play the second game of the four game set on Friday evening starting at 7:00 PM. RHP Andrew Brackman takes the mound for the Thunder, while the Senators counter with RHP Tanner Roark. Catch all the action on 107.7 FM The Bronc or online at www.trentonthunder.com.
