Dayton Dragons News Release

Eastlake, Ohio-Henry Rodriguez went 4 for 4 with a home run and three runs batted in to lead the Dayton Dragons to a 4-2 victory over the Lake County Captains on Saturday night at Classic Park. The win snapped the Dragons seven-game losing streak.

Dragons starting pitcher Daniel Corcino (1-0) worked the first five innings, allowing just three hits and no runs in only his second Midwest League start. The 19-year-old right-hander walked two and struck out six to earn the victory.

Dragons closer Doug Salinas recorded the final eight outs to earn his fifth save. Salinas allowed just one base runner over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Salinas has picked up the save in the last three Dragons victories.

Dayton scored three runs in the third inning to take an early lead. Chase Weems started the rally with a single to center field and went to second on Kevyn Feiner's hit to center. Two batters later, both Weems and Feiner scored on a single to left by Rodriguez. Rodriguez later scored on a single by Josh Garton to make it 3-0.

Lake County scored two runs in the seventh to pull to within one at 3-2, but Salinas struck out Delvi Cid with the tying run at third and one out, then got Casey Frawley to pop out to end the threat.

Rodriguez hit a solo homer for Dayton in the eighth, his 13th home run of the year, and Salinas did not allow a batter to reach over the final two innings to close out the game.

The Dragons collected nine hits. Rodriguez's four-hit game was his fourth of the season.

The Dragons (11-36) play at Lake County (22-26) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the second game of the three-game series. Ricky Bowen (2-7, 6.56) will start for Dayton against Lake County's Giovanni Soto (8-6, 2.50).
