Dragons Receive First Baseman D'Anna From Billings

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster moves today:

First baseman Tommy Nurre has been placed on the disabled list with a strained hip, retroactive to August 13.

First baseman Dominic D'Anna has been promoted to Dayton from Billings of the Pioneer League.

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Nurre has appeared in 52 games with the Dragons this season, batting .209 with three home runs and 20 runs batted in.

D'Anna was selected by the Reds in the 31st round of the 2010 draft out of Cal State Northridge University. After signing with the Reds, D'Anna was initially assigned to the AZL Reds, where he batted .406 with no home runs and 13 RBI in 19 games. He was promoted to Billings on July 17 and batted .262 with no homers and nine RBI in 17 games. Overall in 2010 in the Reds organization, D'Anna is batting .338 in 36 games.

This spring at Cal State Northridge, D'Anna batted .338 with eight home runs and 47 RBI in 56 games.

The Dragons play at Lake County tonight at 7:00 p.m.
