Two-run 11th leads Bandits to win in extras

Burlington, Iowa. - The River Bandits wasted no time taking an early lead on Saturday night in Burlington scoring two runs in the first inning, but it took 11 innings for the River Bandits to open the three-game set with the Burlington Bees with a 7-6 win.

The Bees claimed the lead with three runs in the bottom of the second off Bandit starter Jorge Rondon. A two-run homer by Jose Bonilla highlighted the inning. Down by two in the top of the seventh, the Bandits battled back to even the score with a pair of runs. Devin Goodwin came home with the first run on a wild pitch and Matt Adams crossed home with the second run on a double play.

The game remained tied until Quad Cities scored two in the top of the 11th which proved to be enough for the win. Rainel Rosario got the inning started with a solo home run to put the Bandits in front but they scored a crucial insurance run when C.J. Beatty, who tripled following Roasario's homer, scored on a groundout by Freddy Parejo.

Rondon allowed five runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings in the no decision while Jose Rada (1-0) picked up the win by working the final two innings. He allowed just one run in the 11th but was still able to preserve the win. Matt Morizio (0-1)was charged with the loss after allowing the deciding runs to score. He worked two innings and allowed the two runs on three hits.

The series continues with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 Sunday afternoon at Community Field in Burlington.
