Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The first place Syracuse Chiefs strengthened their grip on the top spot in the I.L. North Division with a win over Pawtucket on Friday night in New York State, defeating the Sox 6-1. Matt Chico gave up the lone run to the PawSox in the fifth as Bubba Bell drove in Gil Velazquez. Bell extended his personal hitting streak to 7 games, going 2 for 3 and lifting his batting average to .308, among the top ten in the League.
Felix Doubront (2-2, 2.08) suffered the loss, going 5 innings, allowing the three runs on just 2 hits. Doubront walked two batters and hit two more in the second inning. Doubront's ERA went up an entire run on Friday night.
The series continues on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Kris Johnson (3-5, 4.68) faces Jeff Mandel (2-3, 5.58).
