
Otters lose pitcher's duel 4-2 against Grizzlies

(SAUGET, Ill.)- In a pitcher's duel between Chris Peters and B.J. Dail, the Gateway Grizzlies won the series finale 4-2 against the Evansville Otters on Wednesday afternoon.
Peters and Dail battled each other and the oppositions as both teams stayed scoreless into the fifth inning on a total of one hit.
In the bottom of the fifth, Jareck West led off the inning with a home run and Adam Eggemeyer brought another run home on a groundout.
The Gateway Grizzlies added another run in each of the sixth and seventh innings to take a 4-0 advantage into the 9th inning.
B.J. Dail was trying for a complete game shutout but Evansville strung together a rally. Greg Alexander plated a run on an RBI groundout, and an error from Gateway shortstop Bobby Burk brought up the tying run to the plate. Down 4-2, reliever Nick Walters came in to retire Vinnie Scarduzio and end the game.
B.J. Dail earned the win after going 8 2/3 innings and allowing two runs (one earned). Chris Peters took the loss for the Evansville Otters after allowing three runs over six innings.
Gateway improves to 15-10 with the win while the Evansville Otters record currently stands at 10-15.
Evansville is back on the road today as the Otters will start a three-game series at the Normal CornBelters beginning tomorrow night at seven o'clock.
