Utah Grizzlies News Release

Stockton, Calfornia - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the New York Islanders have assigned six-foot-five goaltender Mikko Koskinen to Utah. He joined the team in California yesterday evening and is scheduled to start tonight when the Grizzlies visit Stockton at 8:30 p.m. to open a three-game series.

Koskinen, 21, was drafted in the second round and 31st overall by the Islanders in this past summer's NHL entry draft. He signed a three-year contract in July and appeared in two games with the Grizzlies and Islanders AHL affiliate in Bridgeport before sustaining an injury.

The rookie was 1-1 in Bridgeport with a 2.45 goals-against-average and a.902 save percentage. His last game action was October 17. Last year, he went 17-9-7 with a 1.91 goals-against-average and a.932 save percentage in the Finnish Elite League.

In addition, the Grizzlies have also announced the signing of six-foot-three rookie defenseman Brian Kilburg. The Minnesota native had one assist and 40 penalty minutes in 39 games this year with Ontario and will also make his Utah debut tonight.
