Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) (31-26-7, 69 Points) defeated the Alaska Aces (29-26-8, 66 Points) 8-7 in overtime in front of 4,339 fans Thursday night at the Orleans Arena.

The Las Vegas Wranglers fell behind early but stormed back in the third period to earn their fifth straight victory. Craig Switzer provided the game winning goal just 55 seconds into overtime as the Wranglers battled back from a three goal deficit. Chris Neiszner scored two goals, Adam Miller tallied two goals and two assists and Alex Bourret, Mike Madill and Josh Prudden all scored for the Wranglers. Goalie Joel Gistedt notched his sixth victory of the season, stopping 17 of 21 shots, in relief of Jimmy Spratt. Aces tender Scott Reid took the loss, stopping 25 of 33 Wranglers shots. Defenseman Bryan Miller scored a hat trick and added an assist for the visitors. Brock McBride, Curtis Fraser, Jason Ryznar and Nick Mazzolini also tallied for Alaska.

Alaska came out firing in the first period. Defenseman Bryan Miller netted a power play goal five and a half minutes into the game. Just over two minutes later, former Wrangler Curtis Fraser scored a power play goal on a wraparound to extend Alaska's lead to 2-0. Nick Mazzolini netted his 23rd goal of the season at the 11:12 mark to push the visitor's lead to 3-0. After the third goal, Wranglers rookie netminder Jimmy Spratt gave way to Joel Gistedt. The change had the desired effect as the Wranglers struck back 1:20 later on the power play as Alex Bourret set up behind the net. His cross-ice pass hit Aces goalie Scott Reid and went through his legs to cut the lead to 3-1. Adam Miller's assist on the goal gave him a new team record with a 12-game point scoring streak. Less than four minutes later, Mike Madill's wrist shot from the point would find its way through traffic to cut the lead to 3-2.

The second period was controlled by the Aces offense. Just 1:46 into the period, Jason Ryznar took advantage of a defensive lapse, stole the puck, and beat Joel Gistedt to push the Aces lead to 4-2. Less than four minutes later, and with Alaska enjoying a 5-on-3 power play, Bryan Miller netted his second goal of the night to make it 5-2. With the Aces still on the power play, Josh Prudden made a great individual effort on the forecheck and stole the puck from an Aces defender. Prudden's first shot was stopped, but he followed his own rebound for the unassisted, shorthanded tally to cut the deficit to two goals. Eric Boguniecki responded for the Aces with his 19th goal of the year at the 8:10 mark to push Alaska's lead back to three goals. Chris Neiszner answered back with a rebound goal for the Wranglers three and a half minutes later to make it 6-4, Alaska. Neiszner's goal gave him the all-time Wranglers goal scoring mark with 59 for his career. Defenseman Bryan Miller completed his hat trick with 1:31 left in the period, again on the power play, to provide the intermission score of 7-4.

In the third period the Wranglers mounted a furious comeback. Just 45 seconds into the final period, Chris Neiszner netted his second of the night on assists from Greg Collins and Jason Krischuk to make it 7-5. Just over eight minutes later, Adam Miller tipped home a Jason Krischuk shot to cut the Aces lead to a single goal. The goal was Miller's 30th of the season. Adam Miller would complete the comeback at the 16:02 mark as he redirected a pass from Mick Lawrence past Alaska goalie Scott Reid to tie the score at 7-7.

In the overtime period, Adam Miller again got in on the action as he found Craig Switzer going to the net who fired home the one-timer for the game winner.
