Manitoba Moose News Release

After dropping a 2-1 decision to the Milwaukee Admirals last night, the Moose got the payback they sought shutting out the visiting Admirals 4-0 in the rematch on Wednesday night. Michel Ouellet notched the first, extending his goal streak to two games, Raymond Sawada scored his third of the season and Michael Grabner netted his 16th and 17th of this campaign. Cory Schneider faced 34 attempts and denied them all, earning his second shutout of the season. Splitting their first and only series at the MTS Centre this season, the Moose and Admirals share top spot in the Western Conference with 56 points each.

Manitoba's powerplay unit made their debut at 1:43 when Temmu Laakso was penalized for holding. The Moose weren't able to capitalize on the man-advantage and only registered one shot on starting goaltender Drew MacIntyre.

Four minutes later, Moose left-winger Tommy Maxwell handed over a two-minute advantage to the Admirals with a holding penalty of his own. With seven seconds left on their own penalty, Michel Ouellet went top shelf on MacIntyre to score a shorty at 7:22.

Milwaukee benefited from their second five-on-four when Shaun Heshka was fined for holding, but the visitors would even the odds when Patric Hornqvist was put away for goaltender interference a mere 25 seconds later. Neither team were able to score a goal on their respective advantages and the Moose entered the second period up by one.

The second stanza brought two early man-advantages to the Admirals and one to the Moose, but neither team could net a point with the extra attacker.

At 9:02, Mark Fistric blasted the puck from the point and Raymond Sawada tucked it behind MacIntyre to put his club up 2-0.

Even though Milwaukee was leading in shots 26-17, the Moose would be the next to score midway through the third period. With a pass from Michel Ouellet, Michael Grabner snapped the puck through MacIntyre's five-hole, notching his 16th goal of the season, to put Manitoba in front 3-0.

Consecutive penalties to Jason Krog and Mario Bliznak put the visiting club on a two-man advantage for 1:30, but even with the extra help the Admirals couldn't crack Schneider.

With two minutes left in the game, Milwaukee opted to pull MacIntyre, leaving the net open for Michael Grabner to net his 17th of the season and secure a 4-0 victory for the hometown Manitoba Moose.
