New Britain Sets All-Time Single Game Attendance Record

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats - the Double-A, Eastern League affiliate of the American League's Minnesota Twins - attracted their largest crowd in franchise history tonight when 8,115 enthusiastic fans streamed through the turnstiles at New Britain Stadium to see the Rock Cats play the visiting Portland Sea Dogs in a Twi-Night Doubleheader.

The overflow gathering was the first crowd ever at New Britain Stadium to exceed 8,000. The prior all-time single-game mark in New Britain was set on June 17, 2006 when the Rock Cats hosted 7,567 patrons for a game against Akron. Tonight's record crowd exceeded that previous high mark by 548 fans.

New Britain Stadium, opened in April of 1996, has a seating capacity of 6,146.

The 2008 Rock Cats have now entertained 233,994 fans during the current Eastern League season. This averages to some 4,978 patrons for each of the 47 Openings to date at New Britain Stadium. New Britain has 22 Opening remaining this year at New Britain Stadium.
