SIOUX CITY, IA -- After falling behind 3-0, the Explorers scored 8 runs in a row led by 3 RBIs by Juan Camacho to begin a 6 game homestand with a 8-3 win over the Shreveport Sports Tuesday night at Lewis & Clark Park.

The Sports built a 3-0 lead on a 3 run HR by Bobby Bratton in the top of the 3rd off X's starter Tim Layden but Sioux City answered with 3 runs off Russell Savickas in the bottom of the 4th. Nick McCoola and Luke Hetherington would start the rally with back-to-back leadoff singles. Chris Grossman would walk to load the bases and Camcho would hit a grounder to short to bring in the first run. Anton French, just signed today by Sioux City, would walk to load the bases and Chad Gabriel hit a bouncer back to the mound but Savickas didn't go home, instead getting the out at first and it was 3-2. With Alex Llanos at the plate, Savickas would uncork a wild pitch scoring Camacho and the X's had tied it at 3-3.

Layden settled down after the HR by Bratton and pitched a perfect 4th and 5th. He gave up a 2 out single to Richard Quihuis-Bell in the 6th and a couple of walks in the 7th but struck out Ron Fenwick to get out of the inning.

Still the game stayed tied until the bottom of the 8th. McCoola would again start the inning with a single and would steal 2nd and move to third on a wild pitch by Sport reliever Matt Pilgreen. Hetherington would walk and Grossman would walk to load the bases. Out came Pilgreen in came lefty Aaron Cunningham. Juan Camacho would hit a fly ball to left but Brandon Hudson lost it in the lights and it scored 2 runs to make it 5-3. After French walked and Gabriel struck out, Llanos hit a shot to center that went to the wall to score 2 runs and a third came home on a throwing error by the Shreveport SS Chris Smith. The X's had blown it open and won going away 8-3.

Ty Marotz pitched 1 2/3 innings to get the win, improving to 1-1. Pilgreen took the loss, falling to 1-2. McCoola had 3 hits for the X's, going 3-4. Camacho went 1-4 with 3 RBI and scored twice.
