
Pels First Baseman Named Batter of the Month

The Pensacola Pelicans and the American Association league office announces today that Pels first basemen Brandon Sing was selected by PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the American Association, as the B45 Batter of the Month for the month of May.
In 22 games for the first place Pelicans, Sing batted .338 with nine home runs, 28 RBI and 24 hits. He collected five doubles, scored 19 runs and had a slugging percentage of .789. Currently, Sing is first in the league in home runs, RBI (30) and slugging percentage (.795), tied for first in runs scored (20), second in extra base hits (15), and fourth in on-base percentage (.480). The resident of Joliet, IL has already been named a Player of the Week twice this season.
The 27-year old was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 20th round of the 1999 MLB draft. He played eight seasons in the Cubs system from 1999-2006. In 2007, he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles organization. Over his nine year career Sing has compiled a .240 batting average to go along with 126 homeruns and 429 runs batted in.
