Sing, Mahomes Win League's B45 Monthly Awards

DURHAM, NC - Pensacola Pelicans INF Brandon Sing and Sioux Falls Canaries RHP Pat Mahomes were selected by PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the American Association, as the B45 Batter and Pitcher of the Month for May.

In 22 games for the first place Pelicans, Sing batted .338 with nine home runs, 28 RBI and 24 hits. He collected five doubles, scored 19 runs and had a slugging percentage of .789. Currently, Sing is first in the league in home runs, RBI (30) and slugging percentage (.795), tied for first in runs scored (20), second in extra base hits (15) and fourth in on-base percentage (.480). The resident of Joliet, IL has already been named a Player of the Week twice this season.

The 27-year old was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 20th round of the 1999 MLB draft. He played eight seasons in the Cubs system from 1999-2006. In 2007, he was with the Baltimore Orioles organization.

Mahomes had a perfect 5-0 record in May for the Canaries. He accumulated an ERA of 2.25 along with 21 strikeouts and 11 walks in 36 innings pitched. Mahomes allowed 13 runs, nine of which were earned, and 36 hits. The 37-year-old is first in shutouts (1) and innings pitched, tied for first in wins and seventh in earned run average. He has also been a Player of the Week recipient this year.

The Lindale, TX resident was an eighth round selection of the Minnesota Twins in 1988. Mahomes reached the big leagues with Minnesota in 1992. He has also pitched for the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates.
