January 11, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release

Bryce Lampman scored the winning goal in overtime as the Stars sailed on to a 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday at Wells Fargo Arena. Lampman's shot from the top of the circle beat Milwaukee goaltender Maxime Daigneault high stick side with 2:36 remaining in OT. The Stars will take on the Quad City Flames at Wells Fargo Arena tomorrow night beginning at 7:07 PM.

Hard hitting action packed the first period as the two teams battled for the puck. Stars newcomer Brett Westgarth took on Milwaukee's Kelsey Wilson at center ice just five minutes into the opening period. Each received 5 minute fighting majors for the bout. The first period ended with just six shots on goal for the Stars and for the Admirals. Chris Conner had a short handed opportunity early but missed on the wraparound from behind the net.

Konstantin Pushkarev opened the scoring in the 2nd period with a goal from out in front. Puskarev found the back of the net off assists from Stars captain and AHL All Star elect, Toby Petersen and Jussi Timonen. The Milwaukee Admirals evened things up on a power play goal with 14 seconds left in the second period. Josh Langfeld took a shot from the face-off circle that just sneaked in between the knees of Stars goalie Tobias Stephan. The Stars penalty kill was 1 for 3 on the night.

Mark Bomersback came back in the third with his first goal of the season with Iowa to put the Stars up 2-1at 10:11. But, the lead would not last. Langfeld got another shot past Stephan off a centering feed from behind the net from Cal O'Reilly with 2:13 left in the game.

DON'T FORGET!! The Iowa Stars will be giving the "jerseys off their backs" to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Special authentic jerseys will be worn for this one-time event - a game versus the Quad City Flames on January 12 at 7:07 PM.

There will be a live auction after the game where the players' jerseys will be auctioned off to the most generous bidder. The winning bidders will get to have their jerseys autographed and their pictures taken with the player after the game. Autographed photos of the players' and other hockey items will also be available in the silent auction. The team and buyers will be helping nearly 500 Central Iowans who are living with neuromuscular disease.
