Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA (November 28, 2006) - In an effort to gain further exposure in the community, the Johnstown Chiefs have opened a retail store at the Johnstown Galleria where Chiefs fans can purchase team merchandise for the duration of the holiday season and get special deals on tickets for Chiefs home games.

"The Chiefs Holiday Shop at the Galleria is the perfect way for casual fans to get tickets to come to our games as a family," stated Chiefs President Jim Weber. "Local folks can stop by the shop and talk hockey with members of the Chiefs front office and the season-ticket holders who have stepped up to help us man the store."

At the Chiefs Holiday Store, patrons will find the entire catalog of Chiefs merchandise, from tickets, jerseys and hats to pucks, mini-sticks, and t-shirts, as well as special combo packages including both merchandise and Chiefs ticket vouchers.

"It's really fun being here at the mall," said Barb Kent, a season-ticket holder is working part-time at the Chiefs Holiday Shop and whose husband Reg Kent, a former Johnstown Jet, still holds the record for points in a season by a member of a Johnstown hockey team with 144 (38g, 106a). "It's fun, people stop by and talk hockey and buy a shirt, and then notice the great deals and decide to buy a few tickets and come out to see the boys play."

Even Weber has spent time behind the counter for the team. "It was really great to have an opportunity to talk to people who are not our regular fans. The coolest thing was when a grandmother bought tickets for her son and his family, even though none of them have ever been to a Chiefs game, but she thought since her son was always out of town on business, giving the family a night out was the best gift she could give."

"It appears to be working [for the Chiefs]," said Monica Peterman of the Johnstown Galleria. "For a temporary location, they did a nice job decorating, and I was happy to see the amount of tickets they sold."

The Chiefs are home this Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Trenton and this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. against Reading. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at the War Memorial Box Office or by calling (814) 536-5156 or 1 (800) CHF-TIXX.
