November 22, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release

Game Notes: Tonight, the AHL leading Rochester Americans (14-1-0-0) look to win their season-high eighth straight game, as they face the Milwaukee Admirals in game five of their six-game homestand. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.

Head-to-Head: The Admirals have an all-time record of 8-2-0 against the Amerks and also knocked Rochester out of the 2003 and 2004 playoffs.

Rochester Notes: The Amerks enter tonight's game following an 8-0 thumping of Springfield on Saturday night and a narrow 4-3 OT-win on Friday over Manitoba. The Amerks' home winning streak has now reached nine games, as they won their seventh straight game this season. Defenseman Brandon Smith has a four-game assist streak (0+7). Amerk goaltenders continue to possess the lowest combined goals-against average in the AHL, allowing an average of just 2.00 goals per game. Following Friday night's game against the Iowa Stars, the Amerks will embark on a six-game trip that will begin on Saturday in Hamilton and end with a two-game set in Manchester on December 5th and 6th. Head Coach Randy Cunneyworth enters the game with 495 games coached behind the Amerks bench. On Friday, December 1st, he will become only the second coach in team history to hit the milestone, joining John Van Boxmeer. Cunneyworth (248) also needs just 13 wins to pass Joe Crozier for second on the team's all-time wins list.

Player Moves: Rochester also learned this morning that center Greg Jacina and left wing Michael Ryan are headed to the National Hockey League on their first recalls of the season. Jacina has played in 11 games with Rochester and has six goals and two assist. Ryan is tied for the team lead with nine goals and is second with 15 points in 15 games. The Amerks now have four players in Buffalo and two in Florida.

Milwaukee Notes: Tonight's game is the beginning of a franchise-record 10 game road trip for the Admirals. Milwaukee (5-7-2-0, 12 points) enters the contest in seventh place in the West Division and winless in their last four games (0-3-1-0), which includes a 3-2 loss against Iowa on Tuesday. Milwaukee returns leading scorer Ramzi Abid from last season. Abid led the Admirals with 34 goals and 76 points.

Next Game: Rochester ends its homestand on Friday, November 24th with a 7:35 p.m. game against the Iowa Stars. The game is also a "College Student Discount Night." Any student showing their college ID at the box office can purchase a $15.00 ticket for $8.00. The contest will be broadcast on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks. The game will also air on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 on Friday, November 24th at midnight and on Saturday, November 25th at 3:00 p.m.
