Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (15-23-0-2) host the Manitoba Moose (23-12-2-2) tonight in the third game of a five-game homestand. The Bulldogs will be looking for their fourth straight win on home ice and third overall. Hamilton has a record of 0-1-0-1 against Manitoba this season.

The last time these two teams met on November 30, the Moose defeated the Bulldogs in a shootout by a score of 4-3. Francis Lemieux, Brad Winchester, and Corey Locke had goals in regulation for Hamilton, while Jimmy Roy, Alexandre Burrows, and Sven Butenschon scored for Manitoba. The Moose scored on their first three shootout attempts as Jozef Balej, Ryan Bayda, and Jesse Schultz all found the net. Andrei Kostitsyn had the lone shootout goal for the Bulldogs. Yann Danis made 25 saves for Hamilton, while Manitoba netminder Sebastien Centomo blocked 18 shots.

BULLDOGS/MOOSE NOTES

- C Corey Locke scored his first goal in 10 games last night as Hamilton defeated Peoria 2-1 in a shootout. Locke now has 11 goals and is tied with Francis Lemieux and Brad Winchester for the team's goal-scoring lead.

- D James Sanford scored in the shootout last night, and has now scored on all five of his shootout attempts with the Bulldogs.

- G Yann Danis ranks 9th in the AHL with a 2.51 goals-against average.

- D Johnathan Aitken played for Manitoba last season and collected seven points (1g,6a) and 101 penalty minutes.

- Ex-Dogs RW Jozef Balej and D Sven Butenschon now play for the Moose. Balej played in 111 games with Hamilton (2002-04), producing 78 points (31g,47a) and 61 penalty minutes. Butenschon skated in 61 contests for the Bulldogs during the 2002-03 season and recorded 44 points (9g,35a) and 88 penalty minutes.

- Stars RW Antti Miettinen (1g) and C Steve Ott (1a) each had one point last night as Dallas defeated the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim 4-3 in a shootout. Mighty Ducks D Francois Beauchemin collected an assist.

- Hurricanes D Oleg Tverdovsky posted one assist in Carolina's 4-1 win over the New York Islanders.
