April 11, 2006 - The New Orleans Zephyrs extended their winning streak to five games on Tuesday with a victory over the Memphis Redbirds 4-1.
The game was tight throughout until the seventh inning, when third baseman Brandon Larson hit a two-run homer to put the Zephyrs up 3-1.
New Orleans added an insurance run in the eighth inning when first baseman Larry Broadway hit an RBI triple that scored shortstop Brendan Harris.
Starter Steve Watkins (1-0) got the win for the Zephyrs in seven innings of play. Watkins gave up five hits and one run before giving way to Travis Hughes who collected his second save of the season.
The win gives the Zephyrs a 2-0 series lead with two games left. The teams will play an early game on Wednesday with an 11:30AM CT start.
