Round Rock Express News Release

(Oklahoma City, OK) - Express designated hitter Charlton Jimerson came within a base hit single of doing something no other Round Rock player has ever done--hit for the cycle on Tuesday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Regardless, Jimerson and his teammates pounded out a 7-3 victory over previously unbeaten Oklahoma.

Jimerson started the scoring party by smacking his second homer of the year on the fourth pitch he saw from starter Rob Tejeda. His home run marked the second time this season Jimerson has led off the game with a homer. Round Rock led 1-0.

The Oklahoma RedHawks proved why they have the third leading team batting average in the Pacific Coast League, rapping out two runs on three hits to take the lead in the bottom of the first, 2-1. They added a solo run in the second off starter Jason Hirsh to take it to 3-1.

But in the third inning, the Express turned the game around. A one out Jimerson triple, an RBI single from centerfielder Mike Rodriguez, and Luke Scott's 400 foot bomb onto the right field berm made it 4-3 E-Train. The Round Rock bunch never looked back.

As starter Jason Hirsh settled in, he got tougher on the RedHawks hitters, retiring eleven in a row. His five innings of work yielded his first AAA win. And as Hirsh proved tough on Oklahoma hitters, reliever Roberto Giron and closer Dave Borkowski proved almost impossible. Giron notched a hold with his two and a third scoreless innings. Borkowski picked up save number two, while striking out three in an inning and two thirds of scoreless baseball.

The Express picked up solo runs in the fifth, seventh and ninth, to make it a final 7-3 win.
