ROUND ROCK, Texas - Elih Villanueva, Dan Jennings and Chris Hatcher silenced the Round Rock Express bats and combined to pitch the Z's third shut-out of the season. The Z's defeated the Express 1-0 and earned a split against the first place club.

Villanueva pitched six and two thirds innings scattering four hits and recorded a season high eight strikeouts in earning his first win of the season. Jennings pitched an inning and two thirds and Hatcher got the final two outs for his league leading seventh save.

The Z's got the only run of the game in the sixth inning. Ed Lucas led off the inning with a hit. Bryan Petersen reached on a walk and Ben Lasater sacrifice bunt put runners at second and third and one out. Jordan Brown grounded out and with two away Matt Downs singled to left to drive in the only run.

Randy Wells pitched six innings allowed one run and dropped his fourth start this season.

The Zephyrs and Express were held to four hits each on a cold rainy evening in Round Rock.

The Zephyrs improve to 9-9 and pick up a game on first place Round Rock 11-9.

Game Notes - Round Rock was blanked for the first time this season. Hatcher picked up his 18th career save as a Zephyr moving him into 8th place all-time. He passed Travis Hughes (2005-06).

Coming Up: The Zephyrs travel to Oklahoma City for an off day on Wednesday. The Z's will continue the nine day road trip on Thursday with a 7 PM matchup against the Express.
