New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

New Orleans reliever Willie Collazo came to the rescue on Tuesday night pitching five and one third innings of relief to earn the win in the Zephyrs 6-4 victory at AT@T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.

Collazo improved to 6-5 on the season and increased his scoreless inning streak to 33 consecutive innings. He has not allowed a run in his last 16 appearances and in the stretch he has a record of 5-0. Mike Pelfrey started the game and pitched two and two thirds innings of scoreless baseball but was lifted due to a pitch count. The Zephyrs offense got jumpstarted in the third inning with a solo home run by Jason Alfaro.

The Z's jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the Redhawks scored four times in the fourth off of Steve Schmoll. Collazo bailed out Schmoll picking off Adam Fox for the final out of the fourth inning. Alfaro and Andy Tracy each had a pair of RBI to lead the Z's to their second consecutive win. New Orleans moves ahead of Oklahoma into second place in the division with six games to play.
