Ziemendorf Joins Dragons to Provide Catching Depth

Dayton, OH - The Cincinnati Reds have promoted C Chad Ziemendorf from extended spring training to the Dayton Dragons roster to provide catching depth after Dragons starter Craig Tatum was placed on the DL with an elbow injury. Ziemendorf, a 23rd round selection by Cincinnati in the 2003 First Year Player Draft, will be making his first appearance in Dayton. Last season in Billings, Ziemendorf hit .296 with 0 HR and 11 RBI in 31 games. A roster spot for Ziemendorf opened with the reassignment of INF Mayker Sandoval to extended spring training in Sarasota, Florida. In 26 games with the Dragons, Sandoval hit .165 with 0 HR and 4 RBI. Ziemendorf will be in uniform for the Dragons for the second game of a four game series with the South Bend Silver Hawks, Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field.
