West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK - For the second consecutive start, Dallas Trahern threw a complete game, but Kane County scored three runs over the final two innings for a 4-2 victory.

Trahern remains the only pitcher to go the distance for the Whitecaps in a nine-inning game this season. The loss drops him to 2-6.

Wilkin Ramirez Delivered an RBI sacrifice fly in the first inning that put West Michigan in front, 1-0, but with runners at first and second in the ninth, Ramirez struck out to end the game. The runners were two of eleven stranded by the Whitecaps on the night.

Trahern was perfect through four innings, but Raul Padron doubled to lead off the fifth. Following a single from Myron Leslie, Padron scored on a ground out by Jose Pineda, which tied the game, 1-1.

With two out in the top of the eighth, Kory Wayment drove a two-run single to left that broke the tie and gave the Cougars a 3-1 advantage.

Leslie scored on a sac fly from Eddie Kim in the ninth, which pushed the lead to 4-1.

Dusty Ryan doubled to lead off the bottom of the ninth for West Michigan and has had back-to-back multi-hit games. Ryan scored on a single by Nick Mcintyre, which cut the lead to 4-2.

A walk to Jeff Frazier put the tying run on base before the game-ending strikeout. Michael Rodgers pitched the first seven innings for Kane County, allowed one un-earned run on six hits and picked up the victory.

School Days: The last of three Whitecaps school days is Thursday at Fifth Third Ballpark.
