Lansing Lugnuts News Release

Lansing, Mich.- Juan Perlata's three-run triple in the seventh put Lansing(27-25) ahead to stay as the Lugnuts got a much needed win over the Clinton LumberKings(30-23), winning in comeback fashion for the 18th time, 7-5 at Oldsmobile Park on Wednesday night.

Peralta's winning hit was set up by three straight walks in the seventh by Clinton reliever Kevin Altman(4-2). Altman walked Luke Hetherington, Ryan Klosterman and Yuber Rodriguez to start his night in the seventh before allowing the triple on the first pitch to Peralta. Peralta would then score on a sacrifice fly by Jason Armstrong to put the Lugnuts ahead for the final margin, 7-5.

The LumberKings used three homers in the game for the second straight night to push out to a 5-3 lead before Perlata's heroics in the seventh. Ian Gac blasted deep off A.J. Wideman(ND) twice on a pair of long balls, once in the second to put Clinton up 2-0 and in the fourth to put Clinton back in the lead 4-3. Brandon Boggs also homered in the fifth off Wideman, who allowed three earned runs in five innings to earn a no-decision.

Lansing got the lead briefly in the third when Eric Nielsen's two-out single plated Peralta to cut the defecit to 2-1. David Hicks would then triple home Nielsen and Chip Cannon, who doubled behind Nielsen's RBI single. Hicks almost collected an inside the park homer on the triple, but was thrown out at the plate on a bang-bang play.

Lansing's bullpen held the 5-3 defecit until Peralta's heroics in the seventh. Daryl Harang(2-0) allowed just a hit in three scoreless innings to get the win and Joey McLaughlin finished off the ninth to earn his 3rd save.

The Lugnuts will continue the four-game series with Clinton tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. as Kyle Yates(3-3, 4.32) will matchup against the LumberKings' righty Ace Walker(3-4, 2.00).
