New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Alex Sanabia limited the Oklahoma City RedHawks to two hits over 6 1/3 innings, and the New Orleans Zephyrs picked up a series win against the division leaders with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Zephyr Field.

Sanabia (5-4) settled in for his fifth win after a shaky beginning. He did not allow a hit until Carlos Corporan singled to shallow center field in the fifth inning, though he did issue four walks in the first three innings.

Sanabia got help from his defense, as Clint Sammons threw out J.B. Shuck attempting to steal second after a leadoff walk, and the Z's turned a double play in the second inning to erase another leadoff walk to Brad Snyder.

The Z's took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth when Sanabia reached first on a dropped fly ball by Snyder. Sanabia moved to second on a ground out by Gil Velazquez, and scored on a two-out double by Bryan Petersen.

New Orleans scored two more in the seventh inning after Kevin Mattison drew a walk. With two outs, Petersen singled through the hole at shortstop. Mike Cervenak then singled to left field, scoring Mattison from second base, followed by an RBI single by Nick Green.

Petersen and Green led the Zephyrs' offense with a double and an RBI apiece.

Wes Musick (1-2) took the loss for Oklahoma City, giving up three hits and one unearned run over five innings.

Three Zephyrs relievers combined to hold the RedHawks hitless over the final 2 2/3 innings, as Chris Hatcher recorded his second save of the season.

The Zephyrs will begin an eight-game road trip tomorrow starting at Memphis followed by Albuquerque. Southpaw Brad Hand (4-3) will take the mound for New Orleans, and left-hander John Gast (2-1) will make the start for the Redbirds.
