
Aces Rally for 13-5 Victory over Sky Sox

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-For the second-straight day, the Reno Aces battled back from an early four-run deficit, this time winning a 13-5 decision over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Wednesday afternoon in the series finale at Security Service Field.
The Sky Sox jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first and added another run in the third to take a 4-0 advantage. Reno finally got on the board with a run in the fourth and went on to score 13 times between the fourth and seventh innings, escaping with a series victory.
The Aces finish their longest road trip of the season with a 9-2 record. Reno has won 14 of its last 16 and improved to 17-6 against intradivisional foes.
Trevor Bauer (4-0) stayed perfect in his Triple-A career, picking-up the victory after scattering four runs on 10 hits over five innings of work. Bauer walked two and struck out two. After his exit, Taylor Sinclair, Chris Jakubauskas and Joe Paterson combined to hold Colorado Springs to one run over the game's final four frames.
The loss fell to Sky Sox starter Drew Pomeranz (2-4), who surrendered eight runs-six earned-on 10 hits over 5.1 innings of work. Pomeranz walked one and struck out five.
At the plate for the Aces, A.J. Pollock led the way with three hits and five RBIs. Ryan Wheeler, Taylor Harbin and Brent Clevlen joined Pollock with three hits on the day. Jake Elmore singled, pushing his hitting streak to a career-best 22 games and adding to his franchise-record 37-game on-base streak. The Aces registered a club-record six stolen bases.
The Aces now return home to kick-off a four-game set against the Tucson Padres. In Thursday's series opener, RHP Joe Martinez (5-3, 5.63 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Padres will counter with RHP Anthony Reyes (0-3, 7.56 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and it'll be another Coors Light Thirsty Thursday(tm) presented by ESPN Radio 94.5 FM and Reno News & Review.
