Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express begin an eight-game home stand Thursday, opening a four-game series against American Southern Division rival Oklahoma City RedHawks (Houston Astros). The series runs through Sunday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch each night.
Flex Plans, group tickets and party areas still are available for the 2012 season; contact The Dell Diamond ticket office at 512.255.2255 for more information, or log on to www.RoundRockExpress.com .
Round Rock and Oklahoma City switched affiliations prior to the 2011 season, and several members of each team played for the other team earlier in their careers. Oklahoma City's scheduled Saturday starter is etched in baseball lore; Armando Galarraga, who began his career in the Rangers organization, was deprived of a perfect game June 2, 2010, with the Detroit Tigers due to an incorrect call by the first-base umpire with two outs in the ninth inning.
The series opener is The Original Thirsty Thursday, presented by Firetrol Protection Systems, with discounted beer specials and $1 sodas. Thursday's game also features the Baseball's Greatest Flix Promotion, presented by Flix Brewhouse. One lucky fan will have the chance to win dinner for two and a movie and take their entire section to a private screening of a movie with a Q&A session with two Express players. Thursday's game also features a postgame tortilla toss with proceeds benefiting the Nolan Ryan Foundation.
The series continues with Bud Light Friday Fireworks. Saturday is Used Car Night, presented by Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships. Fans will have a chance to go home with one of four used cars being given away during the game; sign up on the concourse behind section 119.
The series concludes Sunday; in honor of Father's Day, kids will have the chance to play catch on the field with dad from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. (balls and gloves not provided). Sunday also is H-E-B Kids Day with a pregame carnival outside the stadium and postgame run the bases. All kids age 12 and under will receive Spike growth charts, presented by Gattiland. Sunday also will feature Sport Clips Team Member for a Day as the contest's winner will be an Express member for that night's game.
Express games are broadcast on The Horn 104.9 FM ESPN Austin and steamed live online at www.espnaustin.com .
