
Zephyrs Hold off RedHawks on Saturday, 4-3

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Joe Thurston was 5-for-5, including a two-run double in the seventh inning, leading the New Orleans Zephyrs (35-35) to a 4-3 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (29-41) before 9,972 Saturday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.
Chris Sampson (4-0) allowed one run and four hits with one walk and seven strikeouts over seven innings in the winning decision. Gustavo Chacin (2-4) allowed two runs and seven hits over six innings in the losing decision. Jose Ceda (19) allowed two unearned runs in the ninth inning before recording the save.
New Orleans opened the scoring in the second inning. Joe Thurston and Vinny Rottino singled before a Mike Cervenak single drove in Thurston for a 1-0 lead. The Zephyrs added a second run in the third inning when Thurston reached on a bunt single, stole second, moved to third on an errant pickoff throw and scored on a Vinny Rottino single for a 2-0 score.
The Zephyrs added two more runs in the seventh inning against reliever Ross Wolf. Thurston doubled with two out, scoring Josh Kroeger and Matt Dominguez for a 4-0 score.
Oklahoma City got on the board in the seventh inning as Brian Bogusevic doubled, moved to third on a Brian Esposito single and scored on a wild pitch for a 4-1 score.
The RedHawks scored two unearned runs with two out in the ninth inning. With the bases loaded on an error, single and walk, New Orleans shortstop Ozzie Martinez threw a ground ball away into right field allowing Bogusevic and Robinson Cancel to score for a 4-3 game. The RedHawks reloaded the bases with another walk before a pop fly ended the game.
