RedHawks Continue Nine-Game Stand-- The Oklahoma City RedHawks continue a nine-game, eight-day home stand, with the second game of a four-game series against the third place New Orleans Zephyrs...First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m....New Orleans leads the season series 4-1 over Oklahoma City, with the only previous series played at Zephyr Field April 28-May 1...The teams will play the final eight straight days of the regular season, four in New Orleans and four in OKC...The RedHawks play game seven in a stretch of 17 consecutive divisional games with tonight's matchup (3-2 vs.ALB, 0-1 vs. NOLA, 0-0 @ ALB, 0-0 @ RR)...Following the current stretch, the RedHawks will have only three divisional series the remainder of the season (7/18-21 vs. Iowa, 8/29-9/5 vs. NOLA)...The RedHawks enter Saturday 10.5 games behind first place Albuquerque and 5.0 games behind third place New Orleans...
Tonight's Probable Pitchers-- RedHawks LH Gustavo Chacin (22G, 4GS, 2-3, 4.02) makes his fifth consecutive start tonight, and his 23rd appearance of 2011... Chacin moved to the starting rotation May 28 when Douglas Arguello was assigned to the bullpen...In four starts, Chacin has a 1-2 record and 3.32 ERA... Left-handers are batting only .209 (9x43) against Chacin in 2011... New Orleans starter Chris Sampson (5GS, 3-0, 3.30) makes his sixth start of 2011 tonight...Sampson was originally drafted as a shortstop by the Astros in the 8th round of the 1999 draft, but voluntarily retired from spring of 2000 through spring of 2003...After coaching at Collin College (Plano, Texas), Sampson was signed to a Minor League deal by the Astros in 2003 out of a try-out as a pitcher...Sampson spent 2003-2010 in the Astros organization, including parts of five seasons with Houston (2006-2010)...With the big club, Sampson posted a 20-15 record and 4.42 ERA over five seasons...
Last Game: June 17 - New Orleans 18, Oklahoma City 5-- Bryan Petersen hit two home runs and Vinny Rottino collected five hits leading the New Orleans Zephyrs to an 18-5 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks before 8,168 Friday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown...Sean West (2-3) allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings for the winning decision...Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-7) allowed 14 runs, 9 earned, and 13 hits over five and one-thirds innings for the losing decision...New Orleans blew the game open with a seven-run second inning and six-run sixth inning...Rottino became the third opponent to record five hits in a game against Oklahoma City this season...Petersen belted a three-run home run in the sixth inning and a leadoff home run in the eighth inning...
First Inning Outbreak-- The RedHawks have scored in the first inning in seven straight games, and nine of the last 11 games... In the last seven games, the RedHawks have allowed the opponent to score in the next half-inning (top 2nd at home, bot 1st on road) in five instances...The RedHawks are 3-4 in the last seven games...
Two-Out Runs-- In the last six games, 12 of the 19 RedHawks runs have scored with two out...
Cancel Streaking Again-- Robinson Cancel had a 17-game hitting streak snapped on May 27, the day before his contract was selected by Houston...Since his return from the big club on June 11, Cancel has hit safely in all seven games...Cancel has now hit safely in 24 of the last 25 games, increasing his average from .205 to .349...
Bogusevic Streaking-- After posting an average of .183 (9x49) in his first 12 games following the option from Houston, Brian Bogusevic has posted a .351 (13x37) average over his last nine games...Bogusevic is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak, with multi-hit efforts in four of those outings...Bogusevic was held out of the lineup last night...
Godzilla Manzella-- Tommy Manzella blasted his fifth home run of the season last night, a three-run shot in the eighth inning...Entering 2011, Manzella had posted 22 Minor League home runs (and one MLB HR) in six seasons as a professional...The last three Manzella home runs have come in RedHawks losses...
Delome Returns to Form-- OF Collin Delome returned from the disabled list on Thursday, and picked up where he left off on May 9 when a shoulder injury forced his move to the DL... Since returning, Delome is 3x8 and is riding a four-game hitting streak, dating back to his final two games before the injury...
