
Yorman Landa activated from DL, Keaton Steele joins Kernels

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Yorman Landa has been activated from the 7-day disabled list, RHP Keaton Steele will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training, and LHP Sam Clay and RHP C.K. Irby have been assigned to Extended Spring Training. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
Landa started the 2015 season on the DL. He spent last season with the Kernels, posting a 3-1 record and 2.88 ERA in 13 relief appearances. In 25 IP, he allowed 18 hits and nine runs (eight earned) with 13 walks and 30 strikeouts.
The Twins selected Steele in the 8th round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Missouri. He pitched last season at Elizabethton, posting a 2-1 record and 2.93 ERA in 19 relief appearances. In 30.2 IP, he allowed 30 hits and 12 runs (10 earned) with nine walks and 33 strikeouts.
Clay made nine relief appearances for the Kernels this season, posting an 0-2 record and 4.50 ERA. In 18 IP, he allowed 15 hits and nine runs (all earned) with 18 walks and 19 strikeouts.
Irby appeared in 10 games for the Kernels with no record, a 3.21 ERA and one save. In 14 IP he allowed nine hits and five runs (all earned) with 14 walks and 20 strikeouts.
Landa and Steele are active and available for the resumption of Thursday's suspended game tonight in Peoria starting at 5:00 PM. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players with seven players currently on the DL and one player on the restricted list.
The Kernels begin an eight game road trip tonight at 5:00 PM with games in Peoria and Beloit. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, May 26 to host the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 6:35 PM.
