LANSING, Mich. -- Lansing Lugnuts first baseman Rowdy Tellez has been named the Midwest League's Player of the Week for the week of May 11 - May 17, as selected by MiLB.com.

Tellez, 20, batted .357 in ten games, going 10-for-28 with five doubles, one home run, seven RBIs and three walks as the Lugnuts finished off a ten-game road trip at Fort Wayne, South Bend and West Michigan.

Drafted in the 30th round in 2013, the 6'4, 250-lb. Tellez leads the Midwest League in extra-base hits and ranks second in total bases and third in runs batted in.

He is the first Lugnut honored by the Midwest League with a weekly award in 2015.

The Lansing Lugnuts are 20-17, knotted in a three-way tie for second place in the MWL's Eastern Division and trailing the first place Bowling Green Hot Rods by two games.
