
Yard Goats Shutout in Richmond 3-0

Richmond, VA- The Hartford Yard Goats were shutout by the Richmond Flying Squirrels by the score of 3-0 on Friday night at The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond starting pitcher Logan Webb hurled 5.1 scoreless innings for his first Eastern League win and combined with two relievers on the shutout victory. The Flying Squirrels scored their runs on a pair of two out singles and back-to-back doubles. Brian Mundell went 4-4 for the Yard Goats and starter Frank Duncan turned in his third straight quality start but was tagged with the loss. Hartford outhit Richmond 8-7 but went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position, hit into three double plays, and left six on base.
The Flying Squirrels scored the first run of the game in the second inning off Yard Goats starter Frank Duncan. Ali Castillo doubled and went to third base on a groundout. Matt Winn followed with a two out single scoring Castillo and giving Richmond a 1-0 lead.
Richmond added a second run in the fourth inning on back-to-back doubles. Jonah Arenado, the younger brother of Rockies star Nolan Arenado and cousin of former Yard Goats All-Star 3B Josh Fuentes, began the inning with a double to left field. The very next batter Caleb Gindl roped a double down the right field line scoring Arenado and gave the Flying Squirrels a 2-0 lead.
The Flying Squirrels made it 3-0 with another run in the sixth inning. Frank Duncan walked the leadoff hitter Luigi Rodriguez who proceeded to steal second base and then moved to third on a groundout. Ali Castillo cracked a single into right field and the two out hit scored Rodriguez to make it 3-0 Richmond.
The Yard Goats continue their road trip and play the middle of three-game weekend series on Saturday night in Richmond, Virginia against the San Francisco Giants affiliate, the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com.
