Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Manchester, NH - Roberto Ramos and Omar Carrizales homered and Frank Duncan and three relievers combined on a shutout as the Hartford Yard Goats defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats by the score of 3-0 on Saturday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Ramos blasted a two run homer in the fourth inning, his team leading 14th of the season as the Yard Goats won their fourth consecutive game. New Hampshire's loss combined with Trenton's win against Reading and the Fisher Cats have fallen to second place in the Eastern Division standings. It is the first time since July 14th that the Fisher Cats have not been in first place.
The Yard Goats began the scoring in the fourth inning as Roberto Ramos slugged a two-run homer over the right field fence off New Hampshire starting pitcher Tayler Saucedo. The homer was Ramos 14th as a Yard Goats and overall his 30th this season. Sam Hilliard scored on the home run after leading off the fourth with a single.
Hartford starter Frank Duncan allowed just three singles over the first four innings and fired six scoreless frames. He worked around two baserunners in the fifth and sixth innings and got help of two double plays. Brian Moran pitched a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts and Logan Cozart pitched around a pair of singles in the eighth inning and struck out the Eastern League's top hitter Harold Ramirez with runners at second and third. Mitch Horacek hurled a scoreless ninth for his second save.
The Yard Goats continue the four game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Sunday afternoon (1:35 PM) at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com.
