NEWS AND NOTES

FINAL MONTH UNDERWAY: The Portland Sea Dogs finished 18-12 in August, their first winning month since going 10-8 in April of last season...Tonight, the 'Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets affiliate) continue their four-game series at NYSEG Stadium...With a four-game sweep of the Ponies, the 'Dogs will finish in fifth place in the Eastern Division...LHP Daniel McGrath makes his 11th start of the season, he went 2-1, 3.86 ERA in August.

GREAT START TO THE SERIES: Dedgar Jimenez (10-7) tossed six scoreless frames on just two hits, leading the Sea Dogs to a 4-1 win over Binghamton in the series opener...Chris Madera gave the 'Dogs an early 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly...In the fourth, Portland added three runs off losing pitcher Harol Gonzalez (0-9)...Danny Mars nailed an RBI single and Deiner Lopez added a two-run triple...Josh Taylor worked the ninth for his eighth save of the season.
