Y'alls Late Comeback Falls Short Versus Boomers

Florence Y'alls News Release
FLORENCE, KY - After being stifled at the plate for the majority of the ballgame, Florence scored five runs in the final two innings but left the tying run on third base in a 6-5 Boomers victory Tuesday night at Y'alls Ballpark.
Schaumburg (34-26), the first place team in the central division, has now won seven of its past 11 games. The Y'alls (35-25), on the other hand, have lost six of the past seven games.
Thanks to a lights-out bullpen and two runs in the bottom of the eighth, Florence entered the ninth inning trailing 6-2. Jordan Brower proceeded to smack his seventh home run, Bryan Leef singled, and Connor Crane tripled him home to get the Y'alls within two runs. Harrison DiNicola scorched a single through the middle to plate Crane, but after a stolen base and a throwing error, a strikeout left pinch-runner and tying-run Rodney Tennie at third base to end the game.
All of the Florence damage came late in the game because the Y'alls had no answer against Ryan Middendorf. The righty did not allow a hit until the fifth inning and struck out seven batters over seven scoreless innings. Middendorf has now won four consecutive starts. Meanwhile, Johnathon Tripp picks up his first loss as a starter this season, surrendering six runs (five earned) over six innings. He allowed 11 hits and struck out just two.
The scoring started early for Schaumburg with an unearned run crossing home in the first inning before Clint Hardy's three-run home run in the second inning. Nick Oddo and Angelo Gumbs each recorded an RBI later in the game for the Boomers. Matt Bottcher and Alec Craig each had two hits for Schaumburg.
Leef, playing in his first game for the Y'alls after being acquired in a trade from the Missoula Paddleheads of the Pioneer League, had two hits and two runs scored. Crane, Brower, and DiNicola also had a pair of hits, and Chad Sedio added to his league-lead in doubles with his twentieth to drive in a run in the seventh inning.
Florence looks to get back into winning form tomorrow, Wednesday, August 4, in the second game of the series against the Boomers. Southpaw Casey Grimm takes the ball for the Y'alls at 6:31p ET. Gates at Y'alls Ballpark open an hour prior to first pitch.
