Rockland County - Orsen Josephina and Nathan Alexander combined on a four-hit shutout as the New York Boulders downed the New Jersey Jackals, 1-0, on Tuesday at Palisades Credit Union Park.
The Boulders' Marcus Mastrobuoni led off the bottom of the fifth inning by taking a 1-0 pitch from Chris Tessitore into the left field bleachers for the night's first and only run.
Josephina went the first six innings for the Boulders, blanking the Jackals on four hits while walking two and striking out five. Alexander followed by closing out the game by retiring all nine batters, including three by strikeout, he faced over the final three innings.
Meanwhile, the Jackals' Chris Tessitore matched Josephina zero for zero on the scoreboard before yielding Mastrobuoni's home run. He was relieved by Thomas Spinelli after throwing three pitches to Phil Caulfield with an injury.
Josephina improved to 4-2 with the win, while Alexander earned his first save of the season.
Tessitore took the loss to fall to 1-3 on the year.
