SIOUX CITY, IA - On Sunday, June 3rd, the Sioux City Explorers will be hosting their 2nd Annual Challenger Little League Game with the X's at Lewis & Clark Park. The game will take place at 2:00pm, prior to the X's scheduled game versus the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks at 6:05pm. The public is encouraged and welcomed to attend the Challenger Little League Game with the X's, free of charge, and cheer on all the athletes as they take the field.

"As the person in charge of the Challenger T-Ball program I couldn't be more pleased to be associated with the Explorers," stated Lane Johnson of the Challenger Little League. "Our experience last year was by far the highlight of any of the 14 years I've been around the program. Everyone involved from the Explorers was enthusiastic and courteous to our players and families."

"This game is an incredible experience for everyone involved. Seeing the expression on each child's face as they were introduced last year was priceless," commented Ashley Schoenrock, Assistant General Manager of the Sioux City Explorers. "The entire Explorers organization is excited for this opportunity to partner with the Challenger Little League again this year. This game is a true show of all athletes working together."

The Challenger Little League offers an avenue for mentally and physically challenged children ages 5-21 to take part in America's pastime. They play Sunday nights at Pulaski Park during the months of May and June. Every athlete is coupled with a buddy to guide them and teach them the game of baseball and importance of teamwork.

"We have all read many stories in the recent past about "˜bullying', this partnership is an example of a group of young athletes helping to make a "special person's" life just a little bit better and to give them a memory that will last a lifetime," Johnson said. "Please come to watch this display of young athlete's helping those not as fortunate to play a game they both love."
