St. Paul Saints News Release

QUEBEC, QC (May 30, 2012) - The night must have seemed like a blur to the St. Paul Saints as Quebec les Capitales starter Bryan Rembisz worked quickly, didn't give up many hits and consequently the Saints lost 6-2 on Wednesday night at Stade Municipal in a quick two hours and 15 minutes.

Rembisz retired the first seven men he faced, but the Saints looked like they would start something in the third. With one out Jon Townsend singled and Adam Frost followed with a single, but with Townsend advancing to third center fielder Sebastian Boucher threw to third. Frost tried to take second on the throw, but thirds baseman Jonathan Malo's throw nailed him and the Saints wouldn't score in the inning.

Les Capitales got off to a 1-0 lead on Saints starter Robert Coe in the third when Josue Peley tripled and scored on Malo's RBI single.

In the fourth les Capitales made it 2-0 when Robert D'Aoust hit a solo homer to straight away center, his first of the season.

The Saints cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the fifth when Tanner Townsend reached on an error by second baseman Josh Colafemina. Townsend advanced to second on a balk, moved to third on a ground out and scored on Alex Garabedian's ground out.

In the bottom half of the fifth another solo home run by les Capitales gave them a 3-1 lead when Peley launched his second of the season.

The Saints once again cut the deficit to one in the sixth as Jim Rapoport singled with one out and, on a hit and run, Jose Hernandez doubled down the right field line scoring Rapoport to make it 3-2. Rembisz wound up going 6.1 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out three.

Each time the Saints got to within a run les Capitales found a way to score. In the bottom of the sixth Coe walked Boucher and with one out walked Paul Karmas putting runners at first and second. Coe left for reliever Billy Spottiswood who gave up a two out RBI single Steve Brown making it 4-2. Coe went 5.1 innings allowing four runs on five hits while walking three and striking out two.

The same two teams meet in the finale of the three game series on Thursday night at 6:05 p.m. central time. The Saints send RHP Chris Odegaard (0-1, 2.25) to the mound against les Capitales RHP Karl Gelinas (1-0, 0.00). The game can be heard on Club 1220 KLBB.
