American Association Game Recaps

May 30, 2012 - American Association (AA) News Release

El Paso 13, Kansas City 12

Having trailed since the fifth inning, the home crowd in El Paso was tingling for a comeback for quite a while. Their patience paid off in the bottom of the ninth when RF Nelson Teilon and 1B Javier Brito hit consecutive doubles, walking off with a 13-12 victory over Kansas City. Brito went 2-for-6, scoring once and batting in three runs. Kansas City got five RBI - including a two-run home run - from LF Bubby Williams, batting in the nine hole. Three of those RBI came on a fifth-inning triple that put the T-Bones on top, 11-7. But the lead wouldn't last, thanks in large part to five hits from Teilon, who scored twice and batted in two runs.

Winnipeg 7, Amarillo 6

With the bases loaded and the score tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, Winnipeg C Luis Alen stepped to the plate already 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI to his credit. But that wasn't enough for Alen, who singled to center field to score Chris Roberson and give his club a 7-6 victory over Amarillo. Alen finished 3-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Roberson - who singled with one out in the inning - scored two runs on his 2-for-5 night. Amarillo led, 5-0, after three innings. But three runs from the Goldeyes in the fourth and the sixth innings gave Winnipeg a 6-5 advantage. A seventh-inning Van Pope sac fly tied the score, setting the stage for the walkoff victory for Winnipeg.

Quebec 6, St. Paul 2

St. Paul traded runs with Quebec in the fifth and sixth innings, but with the Capitales holding a 2-0 lead heading into the fifth frame, the Saints couldn't muster a comeback, losing, 6-2. Leadoff St. Paul CF Jim Rapoport went 1-for-4 with a run score, maintaining his .250 season average. Quebec C Patrick DAoust went 2-for-4 and hit a fourth-inning solo homer to lead the Capitales. Starting Quebec pitcher Bryan Rembisz threw 6.1 innings and allowed only two runs (one earned) on five hits with three strikeouts. The win was Rembisz' second of the season.

Wichita 12, Fargo-Moorhead 6

The Wingnuts scored six runs in the fifth inning - taking advantage of two RedHawks errors - and defeated Fargo-Moorhead, 12-6. The six-run fifth was part of a three-run stretch during which Wichita scored 11 runs. RF David Peralta went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI to lead or co-lead the game in all three categories. Peralta is now hitting .313 on the season. Tying Peralta in hits, Fargo-Moorhead DH Ryan Delgado went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI, hitting his fourth double of the year. Wichita starting pitcher Josh Lowey earned the victory, throwing 7.2 innings and allowing six runs on nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
