X's Fall to RailCats on Extra-Inning Walk-off HR

Gary Southshore, IN - The Gary Southshore Railcats snapped the Explorers three game winning streak with an extra inning walk-off home run by Alex Crosby to clinch the 4-3 victory at the U.S. Steel Yard.

Sioux City scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. X's right-fielder Michael Lang reached first with a single, advanced to third on a base-hit and scored off a sac-fly-RBI by Tommy Mendonca.

Gary Southshore answered with a run of their own in the fourth, and two runs in the fifth inning. Tillman Pugh knocked in a run with an RBI single in the fourth inning to tie it. The Railcats took the lead an inning later, scoring runs on back-to-back RBI singles to centerfield, taking the lead at 3-1 after five innings of play.

Explorers tied it in the seventh inning. With a runner on and no outs, X's third baseman Tommy Mendonca plated a run with a base-hit double. Mendonca went on to score the tying run with a sacrifice-fly hit to left-field by Matty Johnson, tying the game at 3-3.

The score would stay tied at 3-3 through nine innings of play, to force extra innings for the second time this series.

Gary Southshore went on to win it in the bottom of the 11th with a walk-off home run by Railcats third baseman Alex Crosby to snap the Explorers three game win streak. Final score, Gary Southsore 4, Sioux City 3 at U.S. Steel Yard.
