Betts, Reynolds Power Series Finale Victory

Texas AirHogs News Release
AMARILLO, Texas - The AirHogs closed their 4-game set with the Wingnuts Sunday on a positive note, downing Wichita 7-3 behind a strong start from Palmer Betts and 2 home runs from American Association leader Burt Reynolds.
Betts dazzled over 8 innings, surrendering just 3 hits and 2 earned runs. The righty struck out 2 and walked just 1 in the longest start of the year for an AirHogs pitcher.
His offense was ready to give him plenty of support. Reynolds teed off ex-White Sox hurler Charlie Leesman for a 3-run blast in the 3rd. Cody Lenahan added an RBI double to give Betts a 4-0 cushion.
Austin Gallagher chipped in with an RBI single in the 4th to increase the lead.
Wichita got an RBI double from SS Leo Vargas in the 5th and got 1 closer on a wild pitch that scored a run to make it 5-2.
They would add an unearned run off Betts in the 8th to pull within 2, but Reynolds would make sure they got no closer. The left fielder took Wichita reliever Kevin Osaki for a 2-run ride in the bottom of the 8th to help seal the win.
Betts picked up the win, his 3rd, while Leesman took his 2nd loss. The AirHogs (10-14) begin a 6-game road swing that will take them to Winnipeg and Sioux City Tuesday through Sunday. RHP Matt Shepherd is expected to make the first start of the trip at Shaw Park vs. the Goldeyes after a travel day tomorrow.
